Everything is Copy: Nora Ephron Documentary Film

I am looking forward to owning 'The Most of Nora Ephron'  - 576 pages! and the film 'Everything is Copy'. (see trailer below) And! If you have never seen Nora baking key lime pie with Martha Stewart - when Martha reveals a huge secret....then watch that too!

Nora Ephron once said that her mother understood that the “tragedies of your life one day have the potential to be comic stories the next.” Indeed, when Nora Ephron was visiting her dying mother at Doctors Hospital in New York City, Phoebe Ephron told her, “Take notes, Nora, take notes. Everything is copy.” Phoebe Ephron died on October 13, 1971.

Nora's guiding principle was evident in this quote:

“When you slip on a banana peel people laugh at you. But when you tell people you slipped on a banana peel, it’s your laugh.” - Nora Ephron

What is your favorite Nora Ephron book or movie?

Shake It Off

This little bird
bathing with glee
under a canopy of trees
deep inside a Niagara garden
reminded me
though I was in the presence
of someone who was
been extremely cruel
that it's important
to check your inner dialogue
and set of beliefs about yourself

Someone else's opinion
of you
is irrelevant

Shake It Off
Onward.

Golden Palace Restaurant Ottawa: The World's Best Chinese Food

It's no secret that I am biased about loving the Golden Palace in Ottawa. First, I was born in Ottawa. Second, my parents who are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary in Sept. 2016 used to enjoy many 'date nights' at this iconic restaurant. Part of their love story happened there - enjoying delicious dishes of fresh authentic food.  Third, my original art hangs on the walls.  But besides these 3 facts, it must be said that I love this place most for the best Chinese food on the planet. It's true. I swear. You must go there and you must taste for yourself. (They ship their egg rolls too!)
